3-1/ Définition de la fonction exponentielle de base a

Définition 2

Soit a un réel strictement positif et différent de 1.

La fonction exponentielle de base a est la fonction réciproque de la fonction loga.

On la note expa.

 

 

Remarques

D'après la définition 2, on a :

∀x∈ℝ∀y∈ℝ+* y=expax⇔x=logay

Soit x un réel positif et y un réel strictement positif. On a alors :

y=expax⇔x=logay=lnylna⇔lny=xlna⇔y=exlna

Ainsi, pour tout x∈ℝ :

expax=exlna

 

 

3-2/ Propriétés algébriques

Proposition 9

Soient x et y deux réels et r un nombre rationnel . Alors :

expax+y=expax.expayexpax-y=expaxexpayexparx=expaxr

 

 

3-3/ Une autre écriture de la fonction expa

Soit a un réel strictement positif et différent de 1.

On a : expa1=elna=a

Et puisque pour tout r∈ℚ : expar=expa1r=ar

On prolonge cette écriture sur l’ensemble des nombres réels en écrivant pour tout x∈ℝ : expax=ax

 

Proposition 10

Soit a un réel strictement positif et différent de 1.

Alors :

∀x∈ℝ∀y∈ℝ+* y=ax⇔x=lnylna∀x∈ℝ logaax=x∀x∈ℝ+* alogax=x∀x,y∈ℝ ax+y=ax.ay  et  ax-y=axay

 

Remarque

On a supposé que a>0 et a≠1, et après avoir prolongé l’écriture expa sous la forme d’une puissance de a, on a obtenu : ∀x∈ℝ ax=exlna

Le fait que e0=1 nous conduit à poser « par convention » : 1x=1 pour tout x∈ℝ.

On a donc : ∀x∈ℝ∀a∈ℝ+* ax=exlna

 

Proposition 11

Soit a et b deux réels strictement positifs.

Alors, pour tout (x,y)∈ℝ2 :

ax+y=ax×ay  ;  a-x=1ax  ;  ax-y=axayaxy=axy  ;  abx=ax.bx  ;  abx=axbx

Proposition 12

La fonction expa est dérivable sur ℝ, et on a pour tout x∈ℝ :

expa'x=ax'=lnaax

 

 

Proposition 13

Si a>1 alors la fonction x↦ax est strictement croissante sur ℝ :

∀x,y∈ℝ2 x<y⇔ax<ay

Si 0<a<1 alors la fonction x↦ax est strictement décroissante sur ℝ :

∀x,y∈ℝ2 x<y⇔ax>ay

 

 

Proposition 14

Si a>1 alors limx→+∞ax=+∞ et limx→-∞ax=0.

Si 0<a<1 alors limx→+∞ax=0 et limx→-∞ax=+∞.
